1. To use a computer, students must first check in at the library desk.
2. NO FOOD or DRINK is to be brought into the computer area at any time.
3. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF. Push in your chair and place the mouse and book stand in their original positions. Any papers left will be thrown away.
4. NEVER turn off the computer without exiting the software being used. Failure to exit properly will result in lost assignments.
5. Do not touch computer wires and plugs. Disrupting the connection to the computer will result in lost assignments and could damage the computer network. Abuse to computer equipment may result in your permanent removal from computer access. The cost of repair or replacement of damaged parts will be the sole responsibility of the student.
6. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PASSWORD OUT TO ANYONE! A student found in a file other than their own, as well as the student whose file he/she was in, will lose their computer privilege for one month. It doesn’t matter if one student granted permission to the other to go into files. Passwords are given in order to protect student files. If the student is found in another’s file a second time, the student will lose privileges for a quarter. In the case of a third offense, the student will not be allowed to use the computer for an entire year.
7. Cheating will not be tolerated. The school cheating policy will be enforced.
8. ATTEMPTS TO BYPASS THE FILTER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Any student found bypassing or attempting to bypass the filter will lose computer privileges for a month for the first offense. A second offense will result in the loss of computer privileges for a semester. A third offense will result in the student losing computer privileges for one year.
9. If you need a data disk to save your work, one can be purchased from Mrs. Mitchell for $1.00.
10. Let Mrs. Mitchell know if there is something wrong with your computer so it can be fixed.
11. Study hall students must get a pass to the library/computer lab from the classroom teacher who they are doing work for. You will be expected to be in the lab working.
12. Internet access is available to all students and is to be used for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. Internet access is a privilege and will be taken away if abused.
13. Downloading of materials MAY ONLY BE DONE WITH PERMISSION of the computer director to avoid overtaxing the network.
14. DO NOT CHANGE THE COMPUTER BACKGROUND. If your background has been changed (by you or anyone else), YOU will lose computer privileges for a week. If your background is changed a second time, you will lose your privileges for a month. A third offense and the student will not be able to use the computers for one semester.
