Athletic Fees //www.williamsbayschools.org/pro/bulletin/rss_posts.cfm?threadid=34&memberid=886 Dr. Anderson's Blog - Athletic Fees en-us Wayne Anderson //www.williamsbayschools.org/about/blog.cfm?posts=1&threadid=34#item_45

Starting with the 2018-2019 school year, the Board of Education will institute an athletic fee at the high school.  This fee will be $25 per sport and have a family maximum limit of $100. This athletic fee was originally passed by the Board of Education in September 2015, but was not implemented that fall because the District dropped its football program.  The District started playing eight-man football at the junior varsity level in the fall of 2017 and will again play eight-man junior varsity football this year. Next year, the District plans to run a varsity eight-man football team.

This athletic fee was requested by Mike Coolidge, our Athletic Director, to help defray some of the rising costs of our athletic program.  This past year, the supplies, materials and equipment budgets for the High School, Middle School, Elementary School and Athletic Department were reduced in order to cover our 2018-2019 personnel budget.  The revenue taken in by the athletic fee will be added on to the current athletic budget and not be used to supplant the current budget.

At the end of the 2017-2018 school year, the following school districts charged an athletic fee to their students:

Palmyra-Eagle $65 per sport, individual maximum of $100,
Big Foot $50 per sport, family maximum of $200
Johnson Creek $50 per sport
Deerfield $50 per sport
Elkhorn $45 per sport
Parkview $35 per sport, individual maximum of $70 and family maximum of $140
Delavan-Darien $25 per sport, individual maximum of $50
Badger No Fees

The District is committed to using this fee to help increase the athletic department budget and also has made provisions to allow all athletes to participate in athletics regardless of their financial situation.  No student will be denied the opportunity to participate in athletics because of an inability to pay the athletic fee.

The Board of Education will evaluate this fee and its impact on an annual basis.

If you have any questions regarding this fee, please feel free to contact either Mike Coolidge or myself at (262) 245-1575.
