Hello, my name is Dr. Wayne Anderson and I am the superintendent for the Williams Bay School District. I thoroughly enjoy being a part of this school district and it is my goal to keep open channels of communication open with each of you about the future of our school district. I believe that communication is one of the keys to a successful school district. Therefore, it is my goal to try to keep you well informed about what is going on in the school district by writing a regular bi-weekly blog on a variety of educational topics from building construction updates to educational program reviews. If you ever have a specific educational topic that you would like me to write about, please let me know and I will be happy to devote a blog to discussing the topic and how it impacts the Williams Bay School District and other school districts throughout the State and nation.
As your superintendent, I hope to continue to connect with you about educational issues that affect not only your children, but also the community. I tend to get to know people better when I know something about them, so I felt that you might like to know a little bit about me and my family. Prior to becoming your Superintendent in August 2013, I was the Superintendent of the Mount Horeb Area School District in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin for seventeen years. My wife Susan and I have two children: Kristin (35) and Erik (28) and two grandchildren: Samuel (6) and Gordon (5). If you would like to see pictures, especially of my grandchildren; I keep a ready supply in my office. My wife Susan was a special education teacher for twenty-eight (28) years and is now retired. My daughter Kristin is a vision therapist for the Waterdown School District and her husband Peter is the business manager for the Deerfield School District. My son Erik works for a Mini Cooper Dealership in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
I grew up on a dairy farm in northwestern Wisconsin and put myself through college doing an assortment of jobs. I recently bought a small hobby farm about five miles from my office. This past year we restored the barn and plan on getting some animals in the future. My wife and I have also been clearing some land to plant a small vineyard. I have never tended grapes in the past, but I like working outside in the soil and I always enjoy learning and doing new things. I am especially looking at buying a horse for my grandsons. I have a bachelor’s degree in English and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in history from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. I also have both a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. During my educational career, I have served as a 7-12 English teacher, activities director, assistant high school principal, elementary principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. As a teacher, I also coached wrestling, basketball, cross county, forensics and drama. In my spare time I taught future administrators on educational finance and budgeting at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
I believe in the importance of public education and its role in strengthening our community, State and nation. I hold the responsibility of being your superintendent as a sacred trust and plan to work with students, staff members, business leaders, parents and community members to solve the challenges that we will encounter both now and in the future. As your superintendent, it will be my goal to stay actively involved in both the school district and the community. I enjoy meeting people, listening to their ideas and concerns and enlisting your assistance in helping me to strengthen a school district that impressed both me and my wife Susan from the very first time we entered the community. I believe that when people work together towards a common goal nothing can prevent that goal from becoming a reality.
